What kind of small pets are there?

I’m curious to know what other Small Pets there are in local pet stores besides cockatiels, mice, and fish. For Christmas, I’d like to get a small pet (my family is allergic to fur, so they can’t be dogs or cats or any other large, fluffy animal). I am not interested in a snake, b/c they eat mice and I have one so she might be offended =) and I can’t get an animal that is too expensive, like a chinchilla. If you could let me know of as many different kinds of small, inexpensive-ish pets there are, that would be awesome. Thanks!
